Welcome Friends...

I saw this sign on a front porch recently and it reminded me of what is necessary to get through survival-mode and into thrive-mode in divorce. We have to be very intentional about those we allow into our inner circle to speak into our lives and to speak to our hearts.

It's important to not assume the worst of people but it's also important at this vulnerable time in your life to protect your heart. For better and worse, you will find out who your friends really are in this process. It may not feel like a blessing as people say to you, "I don't want to take sides..." and what that really means is that they are not on your side. There are usually sides in a divorce. Again, this is not about causing division but guarding your heart.

Also, this is a good reminder that just because people are related to you by blood it does not mean they are family and have your best interest at heart. It's important to, just like the sign on the door says, excuse people from your life for a season (or longer) who are not helping you be the best version of yourself you can be. This is an opportunity to let them out the door and let others in who will help you thrive. & YOU DECIDE!

Good news: There will be people who become your family and will be for the rest of your life!
