I thought this picture of my 11 year old Aiden was a great picture of what some children go through in divorce-and it's actually a part of the reason why I am called to be a divorce coach. It's a picture of my son at a baseball game.
For some of the time during the divorce I lost complete contact with him through a series of things including complexity with the Family Court system.
The picture: First, I am looking at him through a fence. Second, he is looking at me from a cage. And third, he is also looking at me through a mask.
But he's looking at me. And his eyes show the reality of his childhood. He is still a child and he is still connected to me. Also, my last name is Wilson and that brand name of the chest protector is right on his heart.
No matter what you have experienced, no matter the status of your marriage or divorce, your children are still yours and you will always be their parent. They need you to survive and even someday thrive through this. They need you now and they will need you later in life.
You are not alone in this difficult journey of divorce and I am here to support you.
