Nature and Your Divorce Recovery

One of the most important things I have done in my divorce recovery is to reconnect with nature! Loneliness is hard and for me, listening to birds reminds me that I am not alone in this world and there are beautiful things to see, hear and experience again.
I have also actively become more familiar with public parks that include trails, rivers and lakes and doing anything I can do to get outside and get in nature. Identifying trees, flowers, clouds and stars are all a part of the healing process of getting out of your own head, healing and re-engaging the world that is a beautiful place, no matter what your trauma response tells you. If you do the work you will enjoy this world again.
There are also great lessons of healing and redemption where seeds get broken and become beautiful flowers and organic garbage becomes compost!
If you allow it, this experience can become black gold for you and the world you live in! But it will probably require you to fight the urge to sit on your couch and watch TV and movies all the time.
Break out of those walls and remember that the world was once a beautiful place to you and it will be again-when you get through this it can be even better than it was!
One step at a time. You can do this.
