Isaiah 41:8–9 (NIV84): 8“But you, O Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend, 9I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.

Perhaps the single most important passage of scripture in my divorce recovery process has been Isaiah 41:8–10. Here I'm simply going to focus on one beautiful aspect of this encouraging passage because it is so important, in the midst of difficult times of all kinds, to nourish yourself with truth and also wash yourself in God's word so lies do not take root in your heart.
Among other things this passage reminds us that we are, like Abraham, God's friend. He loves us and we have special favor with him if we have put our faith in him like Abraham! We are children of Abraham by faith!
Especially at this time it is important to remember that he has chosen you and will never reject you no matter what has happened in your life! (please read that again!)
Whether you were the initiator or the respondent of your divorce, God has chosen you and will never reject you as long as you are in relationship with him through Jesus Christ!
I want to encourage you to reread the scripture passage above but put your name in to these blanks and let this truth wash over you maybe every day. Try to internalize it and let it change you from the inside out. You will survive and eventually thrive again!
Isaiah 41:8–9 (NIV84): 8“But you, (your name) my servant, (your name), whom I have chosen, you descendant of Abraham my friend, 9I took you (your name) from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You (your name) are my servant’; I have chosen you (your name) and have not rejected you.
Rise up!
